Drainage solutions focus on directing water away from your home’s foundation. Water pooling next to a foundation doesn’t only lead to annoying muddy conditions but can lead to much more serious structural/settlement issues. Most of the homes in the DMV area either have brick or CMU foundations. Both of these materials are porous and have joint lines which deteriorate over time and create weak points where water can easily penetrate through to the inside of your basement. 

Furthermore, the high clay content in our area leads to major issues as the clay will expand and contract if there is high water content. If there is water landing next to your foundation due to clogged gutters or poor grading, this accumulation of water will create hydrostatic pressure and push water into your basement through those weak grout joints or any existing cracks. Once the water is in the wall then it will deteriorate the material and widen existing cracks as the water will cause the surrounding clay to expand and contract subsequently putting pressure on your foundation wall. 

This pressure can lead to settling which will lead to uneven floors, drywall cracks, windows/doors not closing properly as well as foul smells due to moisture issues. Our focus is to ensure that all ground runoff water is being redirected away from the home either through gravity fed systems or a combination of catch basin/drains and pumps.
